Designsmiths was approached by the Leelanau Conservancy, a non-profit to improve the parking area and design a stairway for the Teichner Preserve. The stairs were designed for long term durability, function and simplicity. This not only worked within their small budget but allowed volunteers to help in the construction. The stairwell leads to a short boardwalk that traverses wetlands and paths that lead to the shore of beautiful Lime Lake.
